Making peace is part of God’s game plan, but what about when your kids feel anything but peaceful?
Between school pressures, changing friendships, and big emotions, it’s easy for kids to feel overwhelmed. And when they’re overwhelmed, their peace can slip away fast.
PARENT INSIGHT:
As a parent, you have the opportunity to be a calming voice in the chaos, not by having all the answers, but by reminding your child that peace doesn’t come from having everything under control. It comes from trusting the One who is.
I still remember how my mom handled moments like that when I was a kid. Whether I was frustrated over homework or nervous about something at school, she never brushed it off. She sat with me, reminded me to breathe, and always pointed me back to God. Sometimes she’d pray out loud, sometimes she just hugged me in silence. But either way, she made sure I knew I wasn’t alone.
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, becasue they trust in you." - Isaiah 26:3
TRY THIS TODAY:
When your child seems anxious, upset, or overstimulated, try saying:
- “Let’s take a moment and breathe.”
- “Even if this feels big, God is bigger.”
- “Peace doesn’t mean the problem goes away, it means we trust God in the middle of it.”
TODAY’S PRAYER:
God, when my child feels overwhelmed, help me be a safe place. Remind me to point them to Your peace, not pressure. Help us both trust that You’re in control. Amen.
CLOSING THOUGHT:
Peace isn’t about perfect circumstances. It’s about a steady heart anchored in God. And as a parent, you get to help your child find that anchor every day, just like my mom helped me.
