Yesterday in Sozo Kids, we kicked off our August series, ‘Game Plan,’ and our focus was simple but Powerful. Making peace is part of God’s game plan.
We explored 1 Samuel 25:2-35, where Abigail stepped into a tense situation between David and Nabal and became a peacemaker, preventing a potentially disastrous outcome.
But let’s be honest – making peace is hard, especially when someone else is threatening to take it away.
FOR PARENTS:
Your child may face classmates who push their buttons, siblings who test their patience, or moments where emotions take over. When peace feels far away, you can help them pause and remember that peace is a choice—one that God will help them make.
TRY THIS AT HOME:
- “What would a peacemaker do right now?”
- “Let’s stop and ask God to help us keep our peace.”
- “Remember, Abigail – she chose peace, and it changed everything.”
FOR VOLUNTEERS:
These kids you serve may come with big emotions and small self-control. One of the best things you can model for them is a calm, steady response – even in chaos. You are showing them what God’s peace looks like in real life.
VOLUNTEER REMINDER:
- Speak gently when a child is frustrated.
- Praise peaceful choices when you see them.
- Use Abigail’s story to remind them: “God loves peacemakers.”
TODAY’S PRAYER:
God, help me lead with peace – in my home and in the lives of the kids I serve. When things feel stressed or tense, remind me to respond with Your wisdom and grace. Aman.
CLOSING THOUGHT:
We can’t control what others do, but we can choose how we respond to it. And when we choose peace, just like Abigail, we’re following God’s game plan/
